Breathwork
What is the secret that makes Oprah the wealthiest woman?
In an interview with Dr. Colbey Forman, founder of Psychoneurology, we’ve learned that Oprah is in fact, a master at directing her energy. Her super power is her ability to direct her energy where opportunity lies.
How, you may ask, can one achieve this? What is the key to directing your energy?
“The breath. This simple answer is often underestimated because, of course, we breathe all the time. However, if you aren’t doing breathwork, you don’t know what it is doing for you.”
How can focusing on something we already do every second of everyday become a superpower?
“Let’s take a look at the Reticular Activating System (RAS). This is a semi-permeable membrane in the brain that opens and closes based on brainwave activity. It opens when brain states are lower or when a person’s parasympathetic nervous system is activated. Oprah puts her RAS where opportunity lies. How? She puts her energy and focus on one point. When one keeps their focus on one place, the RAS activates. The RAS in guided by the unconscious. One directs their intention until their unconscious follows, and is naturally directed towards opportunity.
This mode can be achieved through the breath. When a person is in this state, he or she can access information more easily and readily.
When we are in fight or flight mode, or when the sympathetic nervous system is being activated, we are contracted or constricted. This brings a lack of easy into the body- dis-ease, which may sooner or later, if focused on, lead to an actualized disease.
The same is true when one is ‘depressed’. The word depressed actually stems from the Latin deprimere “to press down”. When we take this into context, their bodies are “pressed down” constricting the slow of oxygen into the body. However, those that are inspired are the opposite. They allow oxygen to flow in and through them. ‘Inspiration’ comes from the latin inspirare meaning ‘to breathe in’. These people have the ability to manage their breath, increase the intake of oxygen in their bodies.”
What does this result to? What does the breath do?
“Breath work opens you, allows you to direct your energy, and take ownership of your health. Breath work is the ally to self-esteem. It helps you old yourself in value. The breath helps you move forward, to stay open, and stay in your presence.
Whenever you experience overwhelm, the trick is to increase the oxygen in your body through breath work- through creating a practice out of it, through making it a discipline. After all, self-discipline is self-discipleship. It gives you a sense of safety and security. “

Dr. Forman adds, “By directing your life force, you become a person who thrives. The most important thing a human being should learn to attract opportunity: Directing their energy. Show yourself that you have an ability to make you feel good consistently through your breath. Not only will others fall in love with you, but more importantly, you will fall in love with yourself.”
