To educate and enlighten a new standard of heart centered healer; combining the wisdom and practices of ancient masters with our newest understandings, this is the Mission Statement of Beurin University (BU), a self-created, legally recognized 501c3 not for profit, new style of university that will be launching its curriculum this fall at the UCLA campus.

I first heard about this revolutionary institute geared towards the healing arts when I ran into an old acquaintance of mine while standing at the check out counter in Trader Joe’s. You must write about this and get the word out my friend insisted. “There are so many healers out there who could really benefit themselves and their community through getting a PhD in their chosen field, thereby giving their practice credibility within our society. “I definitely agreed with her that this sounded like an idea that was long over due.

The past 20 years has seen a surge of practitioners operating in a variety of fields of medicine and therapies that have become lumped together as alternative medicine What a great concept to be able to offer this community of healers a venue in which to become unified and legitimized! I went home and called up Dr. Colbey Forman, the man responsible for this brainchild, and arranged to meet with him at the Zenzu Cafe in Brentwood. During our discourse I became truly dazzled by the scope and vision of this extraordinary man.

Dr. Forman, a Professor of Behavioral Psychology, a Master in the Martial Arts, an ordained Rabbi and Kabbalist, and a Professional Seminar Speaker, is a true visionary whose list of credentials and accomplishments could fill a page. Originally started in Palestine, Israel and the U.K. in 97, the idea for Beurin University came about as a result of his recognizing the unmet need for professional training in the areas of alternative holistic medicine and psychology. Until now the only recourse for someone wishing to achieve a Doctorate Degree was through investing many years studying in the traditional modules of medicine and then exploring the newer advancements in these areas on their own.

Beurin University invites you to Live life on your terms.

It is BU’s aim to massively accelerate the learning process and provide the resources and training that have until now been unavailable solely within one program.

There are two Doctoral Programs being offered at BU. The first is in the new field of Holistic Psychology TM that encompasses Identity Integration Therapy TM and Psycho-Neural Behavioral Therapy (PNBT) TM. These choice-driven as opposed to therapist-driven techniques are innovations from the traditional approaches in that their focus is solution-oriented rather than problem-oriented. Their applications are extremely effective towards creating transformation and change and take a relatively short time to master. The entire program can be learned in as little as 2 years. Classes will begin in September and will be headed by Dr. Forman himself, a pioneer in the field of PNBT.

The second program, Complementary Medicine and Alternative Healing, offers a Technical Degree much like an M.D. or Doctor of Chiropractic as opposed to a more academic degree such as a PhD (which requires a thesis). However, Beurin University also offers a full PhD program that will assist students in sharing their advances in their particular field of healing by giving them the opportunity to have their dissertation published in book form.

Many successful careers have been launched in this manner. For the many healers out there who do not possess a Bachelors degree, the university will help applicants qualify for their Doctorate by providing credits for relevant work experiences and life activities related to any of the healing arts or sciences and will also guide and support students towards completing their undergraduate requirements.

Courses of study in this program will provide training in such disciplines as Ayurvedic Medicine, Reiki, Homeopathy, Acupressure, Reflexology, Chinese Herbology, Kundalini Yoga, Chi Kung, Feng Shui and Kabbalah Healing Angel Forms, to name just a few. Experts from around the globe are being recruited to train in these various fields. These classes are scheduled to start in January 2004.

Beurin University fulfills its vision to unify and create credibility for the healing arts and sciences through offering a wide variety of courses that merge ancient healing wisdoms with contemporary knowledge and finding the universal commonality of all these disciplines. Its goal is to produce a community of healers that are skillfully trained in the broadest range of healing technologies available anywhere in the world and to move these philosophies to become mainstream.
